My work is an exploration of time; how we communicate across space and time, between worlds, spirit and body, energy and space. My primary language for this is moving image and sound, creating multi-layered, sensorial installations that position the body of the viewer deep within this exploration.

This enquiry has been central to my practice for over a decade. For some time, I was focused on the space between, the distance between past and present, alive and dead. More recently, I have moved toward advaita; one space, one time — without distance.

My work seeks to bring forward this experience of one-ness, where past and present are existing concurrently, where energy is tangible in space and where spirits and bodies are in dialogue. My intention is to conjure an experience of multidimensionality, with the work as an interconnected space for encounter.

Sound becomes the architecture in my work. Working with ambisonics and multi-channel sound installation to build and dismantle space through sonic intervention. My work leans into the expansive and contractive abilities of sound, where it can reach deep inside the body and hold us in the present moment whilst simultaneously moving us to travel through space and time.

With 16mm film, I work closely with the materiality of the film, using the natural spits, sputters and flashes of this material as punctuating portals between worlds. I regularly work with performance and somatic enquiry within my films, working with the body as a site that transmits and receives.

I live in the slate islands, Inner Hebrides, these lands, their stories and energies are an important collaborator in my work. This collaborative practice also extends to other artists, musicians, sound designers and practitioners contributing to all that I make and do.
