417hz
8 channel sound installation

Glasgow School of Art MFA Degree Show – The Glue Factory, Glasgow

417hz is an 8-channel ambisonic sound installation made up of field recordings, interviews and chakra frequency compositions.

The listener experiences the work on a large round heated seating area within a completely darkened space. The work was recorded at the various frequencies of different focal points of the body, this combined with the heated seating encourages a full body listening experience.

Cameron uses her own autobiography as a platform from which to explore the potential for hereditary otherness through her understanding of her own queerness and her late mothers practice of witchcraft. The work is a dialogue between narrative interview recordings and deep abstract sound, through this conversation the artist seeks to explore our relationships to ghosting bodies and their disorientating effect on our space.
